Install FlipPilot
Takes about 5 minutes. You need Google Chrome on a Windows or Mac computer and the license key shown after checkout (it starts with FP-).
-
Download FlipPilot
Download FlipPilot v1.0.2 (.zip)The file FlipPilot.zip is saved to your Downloads folder.
-
Unzip it into a folder you'll keep
Windows: open Downloads, right-click FlipPilot.zip and choose Extract All…. In the box that says where to extract the files, delete what's there and type
C:\FlipPilot
then click Extract. Windows creates the folder C:\FlipPilot with FlipPilot's files directly inside it. You don't need to move anything.Mac: double-click FlipPilot.zip in Downloads. A FlipPilot folder appears next to it. In Finder choose Go → Home and drag that FlipPilot folder into your home folder (the one with the house icon).
Use exactly these places and keep the folder there. Chrome runs FlipPilot from this folder, so don't delete, move or rename it later. Don't use Documents or Desktop: OneDrive (Windows) and iCloud (Mac) can move or offload the files in those folders, and FlipPilot then stops loading.
-
Add it to Chrome
- Open a new Chrome tab, click the address bar, type chrome://extensions and press Enter.
You have to type it: Chrome won't open chrome:// links from a web page. - Turn on Developer mode with the switch in the top-right corner.
- Click Load unpacked (top-left).
- Select the FlipPilot folder: Windows: C:\FlipPilot (click This PC, open Local Disk (C:), then click FlipPilot once). Mac: the FlipPilot folder in your home folder. It's the folder with manifest.json directly inside it. Click Select Folder (Mac: Select).
A FlipPilot card appears on the extensions page. Leave Developer mode on: you'll use the reload button on this card when you update.
- Open a new Chrome tab, click the address bar, type chrome://extensions and press Enter.
-
Pin FlipPilot to your toolbar
Click the puzzle-piece icon to the right of Chrome's address bar, then click the pin next to FlipPilot. The FlipPilot icon now stays in your toolbar.
-
Activate your license
Click the FlipPilot icon. The dashboard opens on the License page (if it doesn't, click License in the left menu). Paste the key from your checkout page into the License key box and click Activate.
One key works on up to 2 Chrome installs.
-
Sign in to eBay and Amazon, then run Setup
In this same Chrome, sign in to your eBay seller account and your Amazon account. FlipPilot works through the accounts you're signed in to here.
Then open Setup in the FlipPilot dashboard and follow the steps. When Setup is done you're ready to list.
About Chrome's developer-mode warning
FlipPilot is installed directly instead of from the Chrome Web Store, so Chrome may show a warning about developer mode extensions (for example when Chrome starts). That's expected for a direct install. Close the warning; don't click Disable or Remove.
Updating to a new version
Your products, orders, settings and license stay in Chrome while you update. The version you're running is shown at the bottom of the FlipPilot menu; the download on this page is v1.0.2.
- First delete the old FlipPilot.zip from your Downloads folder, so you can't unzip the old one by mistake. (If it's still there, Chrome saves the new download as FlipPilot (1).zip.)
- Download the new FlipPilot.zip from this page.
- Windows: right-click the new zip, choose Extract All…, type C:\FlipPilot in the box, then click Extract. When Windows asks, choose Replace the files in the destination.
Mac: double-click the new zip, open the FlipPilot folder it creates in Downloads (it may be called FlipPilot 2), select everything inside it (⌘+A) and drag it into the FlipPilot folder in your home folder. Choose Replace and tick Apply to All. - Go to chrome://extensions and click the ↻ (reload) arrow on the FlipPilot card. If the FlipPilot dashboard is open, close that tab and open it again. The menu should now show v1.0.2.
Don't click Remove on the FlipPilot card, and don't load the new version from a different folder. Either one starts FlipPilot over with none of your saved data.
Cancel or manage your subscription
In FlipPilot open License → Manage subscription, or enter your license key on the Manage subscription page. Both open Stripe's customer portal, where you can cancel, update your card or switch plans. Removing FlipPilot from Chrome does not cancel your subscription.
Troubleshooting
"This license key wasn't found"
Copy the key again from your checkout page. Include the whole key, from FP- to the last character, with no spaces before or after it.
"Already active on the maximum number of Chrome installs"
The key is in use on 2 other Chrome installs. On the computer you no longer use, open FlipPilot → License → Deactivate this device, then click Activate here again. If that computer is gone, email flippilotcustomerservice@outlook.com with your license key.
"Manifest file is missing or unreadable" when loading
The wrong folder was picked. Choose the FlipPilot folder that has manifest.json directly inside it: not the .zip file itself, and not a folder that only contains another FlipPilot folder. Chrome can't load a .zip, so unzip it first (step 2).
No "Load unpacked" button
Turn on Developer mode (top-right of chrome://extensions). If the switch is greyed out, this Chrome is managed by an organization, which is common on work computers. Use a personal computer or Chrome profile.
FlipPilot stopped working or shows "Errors" after moving files
Check that the FlipPilot folder is still in the same place with the same name (C:\FlipPilot on Windows, FlipPilot in your home folder on a Mac) and that the switch on the FlipPilot card is on. Then click ↻ on the card. If the folder is gone, unzip the download into the same place again (step 2) and click ↻. Don't click Remove: that deletes FlipPilot's saved data.
"Couldn't reach the license server"
Check your internet connection. FlipPilot keeps working for a while without it and checks again by itself.
Still stuck? Email flippilotcustomerservice@outlook.com with your license key and a screenshot of what you see. Never send your eBay or Amazon password.
